WHAT IS AN EGR VALVE?
EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It is a valve to help the engine efficiently and completely burn fuel. It does this by recirculating a portion of the exhaust gas and running it through the combustion process again.
This results in a cooler, more complete burn of the fuel which decreases noxious emissions by prohibiting the formation of some harmful gases.
